Last year, Blancpain commemorated the 70th anniversary of its iconic dive watch. This year, the Fifty Fathoms Automatique 42 mm joins the collection. The new Fifty Fathoms keeps the vintage-inspired design of its bigger sibling while sporting a smaller, 42 mm casing that is available in titanium or red gold, both completely brushed. This size was initially seen on the 70th Anniversary Act 1 special edition.

One of the most popular versions in the inventory, the 45 mm model, was introduced in 2007 and is essentially a smaller version of the new Fifty Fathoms.

Though in a smaller format, the 42 mm variant maintains the recognizable appearance. Thus, the sword hands, Arabic numerals at the quarters, and the italicized model name above six are all still present on the dial. One could argue that the dimensions are better because of the smaller size, with the date window in particular resting in a more comfortable location nearer the bezel.
