Description
The renowned Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Rubberclad ref. 25940 requires very little introduction and is unquestionably one of those timepieces that merits a thorough explanation, particularly given that it represents the advent of rubber as a primary component in the watch industry. Since the release of the Royal Oak in 1972, AP has continued to innovate the watch business, as demonstrated by the AP Rubberclad, a watch that is visible on the wrists of numerous celebrities and AP enthusiasts.
Released in 2002, the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Rubberclad reference 25940 was the first luxury watch to use rubber as a primary component and the second after the MDM Genève Hublot to have a rubber strap. Although many people believe that the octagonal bezel on this specific reference is really a piece of natural rubber, the rubber is actually a coating or clad that encircles the watch's stainless steel or 18K rose gold bezel.
