Description
The last of the Lemania-based Patek Philippe Perpetual Chronos. Possibly the best watch Patek Philippe has ever made.
Patek's designers worked hard to best utilize the extra space on the dial when compared to the 3970 due to the increased case diameter. The team "worked to make it as simple as possible.
To make the date easier to read, a little larger six o'clock sub-dial fills the extra space; this has the added benefit of drawing attention to the gorgeous moonphase disk. Additionally, there is more room at the dial's edge than with the 3970, allowing for a cleaner minute track and chronograph scaling with less overlap.
Even the 5970's dial typefaces are part of its legend. These fonts are a significant component of what is known as the Patek perpetual chrono's design language, which is neither unduly modern nor unduly old.
The 5970 has been confirmed by Patek to have been produced from 2004 through 2010.
