Description

According to Stepan Sarpaneva, the dial of the Nocturne takes inspiration from the puppet show theatres that travel across Europe. The dial, which depicts and an owl looking out to sea with the characteristic Sarpaneva moon “face” looming over the dial, is the handiwork of Finnish graphic designer and comic book artist Ville Tieta¨va¨inen.

Laser-cut and then finished by hand, the dial is made up of six parts to create the depth and layers that really spring to life when exposed to UV light what with the use of nine different luminscent paints. The watch was made in a limited edition of 30 pieces each in two dial variants – one with an orange moon and the other, like the present example, with a white moon.

Visible via the caseback, the self-winding rotor features the trademark skeletonised moon "face" with luminous eyes. Quirky and collectible, this watch is being offered fresh to the market and is in excellent condition.
